Orders all churches under KBBB to hold a candlelight service on December 13

Monday, December 9 (MExN): The Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjüm (Konyak Baptist Church Association) on Thursday condemned the barbaric killings of innocent civilians on December 4 and 5 thereafter.

KBBB Executive Secretary, Reverend M Chemyuh Konyak, said in a press release: “In this Advent season, when we yearn to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace, the irony of current situation is contrary to what we wish as Christians to spend the Christmas season. As many as fourteen Konyak boys were murdered in cold blood and left many seriously injured. We are deeply hurt by the incident that claimed the lives of our fourteen baptized members of KBBB.

“We pray fervently for God’s comfort on the bereaved families at this time of mourning,” he said.

The KBBB has acknowledged prayers and messages of condolence from Christian fellowship around the world. “Your prayers and well wishes are a clear source of consolation in this time of grief. As always, our shared commitment to serving the desperate remains unwavering, we will continue to pray for the prevalence of peace and tranquility in this region of northeast India,” he said.

The KBBB also expressed its gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and all administrators of Mon District Headquarters for the determined efforts made for the success of the funeral program. The DGP and all soldiers of the Nagaland Police Department have been making unremitting efforts to maintain public order. “We hope our state law enforcement agency will continue to pursue the case to verify the unfabricated details and bring justice to the families of the victims soon,” he said.

Meanwhile, KBBB’s annual meeting, scheduled for December 10-12, has been postponed. The assembly of this year’s KBBB annual meeting will therefore be significantly different from the conventional meeting, he informed.

Additionally, all churches under KBBB are invited to hold a candlelight service in honor of the fourteen departed souls at 6:00 p.m. on December 13.
